Research at the FTD

Research at FTD aims at developing new detector technologies for fundamental questions in physics. The detectors developed and built here are used both at international accelerator centers such as CERN in Geneva and at the local accelerator facilities of the University of Bonn (ELSA, cyclotron). Spin-offs of our developments can be found in radiotherapy, imaging and dosimetry, among others.

The FTD provides key technologies for our research areas in the field of

  • Semiconductor pixel detectors
  • Microstructured gas detectors
  • Calorimeters and scintillators
  • Photonics
  • ASIC-Design
